Crysis Warhead is an excellent buy at only $29.99. For the single player campaign and Crysis Wars, new badass weapons and the same open gameplay we’ve come to love, this is a deal made in heaven, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Crysis Warhead improves on the original Crysis in so many ways that it seems like an understatement to simply call it an expansion. The singleplayer, graphics, and music are so much better that it could be considered a pseudo-sequel. The multiplayer, while still enjoyable, continues to be a load of missed potential.

I almost want to hang myself for thinking this, but in effect, Warhead delivers because it's exactly what its developers promise: more Crysis. It doesn't take any daring risks, but neither does it have to. As a follow-up to one of the best first-person shooters of the decade, any significant changes might have wrecked its attractive qualities. I only wish that the story had been fully fleshed-out, and that promised performance enhancements had borne fruit on my PC. It's a shot across the bow, I suppose.

What surprises us is that yes, more than anything, this change so subtle but so present from the first minute at a more frenetic. Those who expect more shots at not being able to not find here, but we see how the story Tienta us to do so continuously, without moving away from that approach sandbox freedom of action that we already know. The music, more present and more pieces than the previous rockers, the sequences, finally moving away from the first person perspective opting for a more cinematic, and the same missions, aimed at destroying and blowing things up instead of not to have noticed our way through it gives a good account of this.

Crysis Warhead has indeed addressed the many issues that bothered the original. With tighter, more intense and action packed levels, a series of other improvements and an excellent multiplayer campaign, Crytek has managed an excellent product. Though Warhead feels a bit linear and fails to reach the epic scale set by the original Crysis, it does not change the fact that Warhead is a fantastic standalone expansion and definitely worth your money.

It might be packing a short single-player campaign, but the supreme intensity and sheer enjoyment of those 6 hours regularly reach the peaks of the equally fantastic Call of Duty 4. It’s budget priced, looks incredible on a decent PC, and the additional multiplayer upgrades combined with the fantastic single-player option make this one that PC owners should be eager to snap right up.

To sum it up, Crysis Warhead is a far tighter package than Crysis was in every way possible, making it a truly worthy expansion. That’s saying a lot, since Crysis itself was an amazing game that deserved every bit of the hype it generated. By the looks of it, the entire Crysis series has moved from being a technological marvel, to being one of the best shooter franchises for the PC, which makes it a kind of high-budget underdog. Also, this was the first project handled by Crytek’s Budapest studio. If this is how awesome their first project is, I’m sure as hell looking forward to what they have for us next!
